JENNIFER Â ANTKOWIAK Â LOVES Â LEADING Â PEOPLE Â ON Â A Â HEALTHY Â WALK Â THROUGH Â LIFE!
People often ask me, âHow do you do itâ? I suppose when you lump it all together, it does sound a little overwhelmingâI anchor the morning news at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, manage a business called jennifer Cares (www.jenniferCares.com)  that helps family caregivers take care of themselves, teach six fitness classes a week, write for web sites and blogs, do national radio and TV interviews on carving out and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, andâŚmy most important job—Iâm mom to five active kids ages 10-16!
How do I do all of that?! I have the energy to do the things I want for the people I love because I make exercise a priority! I know there are people out there who drag themselves home after a long day, and donât feel like they can get up from the couch. Many of the family caregivers I work with tell me they are mentally and physically drained, and canât picture themselves leaping up and working out. I look them right in the eyes and tell them they have the power to turn that — exercise changes everything!
Literally, it takes just minutes in my classesâŚI see smilesâŚ.I look out and watch worries fade, as a glow washes across those happy, healthy faces. I am very well aware that each person is there for a reason. Some are looking to lose weightâŚothers are recovering from illness or surgery and want to build strength and endurance—many tell me that the stress relief alone keeps them coming back, and they view the physical benefits of exercise as âicing on the cakeâ.
How satisfying to be able to help make such a strong change in someoneâs life! And, I truly understand how life-changing it can be! When I was home during maternity leaves, and then later, being a caregiver to my in-laws who were diagnosed with cancer, it was hard to think about finding the time, energy, or money to get  up and out of the house for exercise—thatâs where Leslieâs DVDâs came inâŚall of a sudden, I was in a whole new happy, hopeful world! I didnât have to leave the family—didnât need a gym membership, or any fancy clothes or equipment—I could just pop in a DVD and move while being motivated and uplifted by Leslie and her great WALK fitness programs! I lost weight, felt stronger, and had more energy!
I knew I wanted to motivate people to move so that could share in those positive results! I eagerly researched and trained for fitness certifications, and now, Iâm blessed to lead people of all ages, shapes, colors, sizes, and physical abilities in a variety of fitness programs so they can see for themselves how moving more is the solution for a happier, healthier, more productive life!
I am SO excited to meet you, and WALK with you at the 2014 WALK Concert in Pittsburgh on October 3rd! Leslie and I will make sure you get a great workout, have fun, and leave feeling strong, and inspired to want to share those feelings with those you love!
And, if youâve made the decision to join us that weekend for the WALK Leader Training and Certification—CONGRATULATIONS! Be confident that you have selected an expertly-developed program that will arm you with the information and skills you need to go out into your communities and make a difference in peopleâs lives! Iâm especially eager to see you in a workshop Iâll be presenting that Sundayâtalking with you about the critical need for fitness for family caregivers, and how you, as a WALK leader, are in a PERFECT position to help the 65-million caregivers in this country! It will give you all kinds of new ways to think about growing your WALK Leader business—and feel great doing it!
But⌠first things, firstâŚ.join us at Stage AE in Pittsburgh on October 3rd—the WALK Concert is open to all! LETâS WALK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. More on this later—but wanted to let you know that as a guest at the WALK Concert, YOU will be among the first to hear about some exciting NEW programs from Leslie and me that will focus on guiding people to take better care of themselves!
