Good Monday Morning Everybody!

Good Monday Morning Everybody!

Kick off the week with a WARM UP Walk …. don’t forget you can walk anytime … our 1 Mile walk is always available anytime you visit our web walkathome.com it’s take less than 15 minutes and nothing beats good old “circulation” to keep you warm ( I just took my son to school and temp outside was 8 … really … just 8!!!! … I am going to Walk right now … get warm to the bone!)

IVillage “Rev Up Your Weight Loss” Challenge is going strong … here’s a sweet fan….

Leslie, I have been doing 30 minutes @ 4mph with my husband 7 days a week for over two years.  I still need to lose weight, so I guess I need to ramp it up.   I also do 15 minutes of weight training 3 days a week, play golf at least once a week.  Any suggestions?

WOW !!!! I love your great choices … walkin’ with hubby, strength training, golf …. it’s all so fantastic!  However …. uh-oh … here comes a “however – LOL”  …. you may have hit a point that your body is so accustomed to this activity that it is REALLY efficient at doing it!  That means your body actually uses “less” energy to do all of those activities … that’s great for fitness … but a “challenge” for continued weight loss!  OK … now the GOOD NEWS … you can break through that plateau!

Just a bit of a “shake up” is all you need … I am sure of it!     Why not try 3 Interval Walks per week and 3 of your current Walks (30min.@4mph) An interval walk cycles through short sessions of walking – and gentle jogging (you can keep it as mild as a scoot-type jog or power it up to a full jog)

This is a popular subject … I just suggested this to another iVillage member –

Warm Up Walk  – 5 mins.

Intervals – 3 min. of brisk Walking / 1 min. gentle jog – Do 5 cycles = 20 min.

Cool Down Walk – 5 mins.

Don’t forget stretching AFTER brisk exercise is the best for flexibility!

Hope this offers you a do-able shake up my healthy friend!!  Try for a few weeks and let me know! Hug that hubby for me … love that you walk together
